Studio Calico Card Kits

So if you ever read my blog, you know that I am a loyal subscriber and lover of Simon Says Stamp's card kits.  (I have some pics from the February kit that I will post next week!)  I have really learned to  enjoy the challenge of working within the supplies they send.  For the last few months, I have been looking for another monthly kit just to get some variety.

If you've never searched for this, there are TONS of scrapbooking monthly kits, but very few designed for card makers.  Most of the card kits I found are kits to make specific finished cards, rather than leaving things to your design delight.

In December, Northridge Publishing ran a promotion giving you a free extra kit (turned out to be 2 kits!!) if you bought Studio Calico's monthly kit for December.  I wasn't sure that I loved Studio Calico, but I figured it was worth testing out.  I had so much fun that I subscribed starting this month!

So here are some pics from cards I made with those new kits.  Lesson I learned:  be willing to try new things!!  You might find another addiction... ;-)

Have a great weekend!

December Daily

I saw my first December Daily two years ago, and I was starstruck.  What an amazing idea-- to keep a daily journal throughout December to remember the entire holiday season.  You create the album in advance with much of the basics, and leave the fun the addition of pictures, journaling and embellishments to the daily activity.

I promised myself that I was going to do a December Daily this year.  I purchased this beautiful kit of paper and embellishments from We R Memory Keepers (and even mentioned it on a YouTube haul video).  Except that it didn't happen.

So thank you to October Afternoon for putting together an awesome kit,  complete with the blank album covers, many of the pages (no punching, no cutting!), and all the paper and doodads you could need.  In a matter of a couple of hours, I have painted my cover and put together all of the basics of the pages!  I still have to play a little catch up on the actual journal, but I am SO thrilled to have been able to pull this together and create a wonderful holiday momento....

So far, here is the supply list:

Album, rings, insert pages, journaling spots, washi tape, tin embellishments & patterned paper: October Afternoon; Ink: Close To My Heart; Stamps: Close To My Heart and October Afternoon; Chipboard: 3 Birds, Claudine Hellmuth; Brads: Making Memories; Stickers: Claudine Hellmuth; Twine: October Afternoon; Cardstock: craft supply
